In this case history we share how we customized a project for an Italian excellence in truffles. We are talking about Appennino Food Group—a longstanding client of Sacchetti di Tessuto—who trusted us to produce cotton bags designed to hold truffles and other delicacies from their collection. It was a genuine privilege for us to create made-to-measure “chests” to protect these small gastronomic treasures, as sought after as they are delicate.
The food sector always presents an intriguing challenge: it requires care, responsibility, and particular attention. The focus is not only on packaging functionality but also on preserving quality, food safety, and the ability to convey—before tasting even begins—a taste experience.
The client’s need: external packaging to enhance their gastronomic excellences, with minimalist elegance
The historic Emilia-based company, specialized in processing and marketing truffles and related products, approached us with a clear objective: to find a partner capable of creating fabric bags that could enhance and protect their food products—from whole truffles to creams, oils, and liquors—with aesthetic consistency, sustainability attention, and customization options. When they contacted us, their packaging already featured glass as the primary container for many products. However, what was missing was an external wrapping to complete the presentation—a bag that aligned aesthetically with the natural elegance of the truffle, was sufficiently durable to accommodate various formats (from truffle balls to gift sets with oil and cream), respectful of the raw food material, and graphically customizable.
Sacchetti di Tessuto’s solution: customized, sustainable, and recognizable formats
Considering their needs, our proposal—after an in-depth technical discussion—was:
- a white polycotton twill fabric: durable and with a weave denser than classic lightweight cottons. This choice was sustainable and functional, compatible with food contact, and consistent with the natural identity of the product.
- two-color screen printing—black and aged gold—on both sides of the bag, to ensure shelf recognition and brand enhancement.
- four sizes in different dimensions, designed to fit various references, from loose truffles to tasting products.
- rat-tail drawstrings as the closing detail: elegant, practical, and coherent with the brand’s premium positioning.
Our involvement: from sample to recurring order
We supported the client at every stage of the project, from material selection to color sampling: the exact tone of gold requested—an aged, refined gold—was achieved after several trials. The same care went into defining the print proportions and the distribution of the graphic layout on both sides of the bag.
A partnership that has grown over time
After the initial supply (nearly 5,000 pieces), the collaboration became stable. Every new requirement is preceded by a detailed study and updated samples, often delivered in person at their headquarters in the heart of the Apennines, in Savigno.
Today, the client regularly entrusts us with producing their secondary fabric packaging: a vote of confidence that honors us and pushes us to seek, each time, the most suitable solution.
Do you need sustainable, customized packaging for your food products? Tell us your idea: we will transform it into a concrete, beautiful, and functional solution, just as we have done for this Italian truffle excellence.
